Washburn University Athletics and Envista Federal Credit Union are teaming up once again to bring the community together for the 2nd Annual Friday Night Lights Community Kickoff, part of the Bods Care: Empowered by Envista program.
The free, family-friendly event will take place on Friday, August 22, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Yager Stadium on the Washburn University campus.
Guests will have the opportunity to meet Washburn student athletes, enjoy local food trucks, play yard games, bounce on inflatables, and even step into the money machine for a chance to win prizes. The evening will also feature the official reveal of the all-new Junior Bods Club, giving young fans a new way to connect with Ichabod athletics.
“Washburn Athletics is thrilled to welcome the Topeka community back to Yager Stadium as we kick off another exciting year," said Colin Budke, Assistant Athletic Director for External Relations. “Last year was a record-breaking one with many highlights, and thanks to the support of the community, we’re eager to keep building on that momentum. We are especially grateful for our partnership with Envista, the proud teammate of our Bods Care program. Their commitment makes what we do possible, and we couldn’t be more appreciative of their impact. With their support, we look forward to continuing the Bods Care initiative this year and introducing the new Junior Bods Kids Club.”
As part of its partnership with Washburn Athletics, Envista Federal Credit Union is proud to support the Bods Care initiative, which focuses on student well-being, community connection, and empowerment.
“At Envista, we believe in investing in our community and creating experiences that bring people together,” said Val Williams, VP of Marketing for Envista Federal Credit Union. “The Friday Night Lights Community Kickoff is a perfect example of how we can celebrate school spirit, engage with our local youth, and build mentorship and lasting connections with Washburn’s coaches and athletes.”
The event is open to the public, and admission is free. Families, students, alumni, and community members are invited to gather on the field and enjoy an evening of fun, food, and Washburn pride.
