Envista Federal Credit Union and Topeka High School are proud to announce a new partnership that will bring financial education to life with the launch of the school’s first student-run credit union branch.
The Envista student branch, located inside Topeka High School, will be staffed by students from the school’s business and finance classes and overseen by an Envista branch manager. The branch will provide real-world, hands-on experience for students while offering financial services to fellow students, faculty, and staff during select school hours.
Sheila Krohe, Business Teacher at Topeka High School, was instrumental in launching the initiative and will help oversee its operations.
“This branch is truly the result of our students’ vision and hard work,” said Krohe, Business Teacher at Topeka High School. “They researched other student-run branches, surveyed our students and faculty, toured programs in the area, and built a full presentation that they brought to Envista. To see their idea turn into reality is incredible. It shows them that their voices matter, and it gives them the chance to put their learning into practice in a way that impacts the entire school community.”
The partnership reflects Envista’s commitment to the credit union philosophy of People Helping People and Topeka High School’s dedication to preparing students with practical skills for their future.
“At Topeka High, we are always looking for ways to give our students unique opportunities that prepare them for the future,” said Dustin Dick, Principal of Topeka High School. “Partnering with Envista allows us to combine classroom learning with real-world experience, which is an incredible benefit to our students and our school community.”
The student branch will be open four days per week during lunch hours. Students will learn the fundamentals of financial services, gain job-specific training, and develop personal finance skills, while Envista staff will provide ongoing support and mentorship.
“Financial education is one of the most important skills we can give the next generation,” said Andrea Kaberline, Executive Vice President at Envista Federal Credit Union. “As a Trojan alumnus myself, this partnership is especially meaningful. I know firsthand the pride and tradition of Topeka High, and I’m thrilled to see Envista investing in the next generation of leaders here. This branch will ensure they don’t just learn about money in theory—they gain real-world experience in managing it, serving others, and preparing for their future.”
A ribbon cutting ceremony is planned for Wednesday, October 15 at 10:30 am to officially launch the student branch.
